A Rainbow Sky of Umbrellas

Japanese Umbrella Art

To celebrate the one year anniversary of the Moominvalley Park, in the city of Hannō in Japan, the park created a magical entrance road into the park.

Hannō is a small city surrounded by mountains and calming rivers, located just a 40 minute train trip away from the busy streets of Tokyo.

The installation is called “Metsä Umbrella Sky”, and it begins at the gate of the Metsä Village.

The entrance road is the vision of Masari Suzuki. He used over 1000 multi-coloured umbrellas to form this incredible installation. The umbrellas cast beautiful coloured shadows onto the footpath beneath, surrounded by a lush forest.
